Republican = Failure and Corruption

Chris mentioned frustration with the Democratic party when he promoted Bonddad's diary about unemployment statistics. I would categorize it as a complete and utter failure of the entire Democratic party to oppose Bush policies that harm America and threaten our security. Even more than that, it is a complete and utter failure of the entire Democratic party to define Republicans as the party of failure and corruption.

The Left Coaster has an open thread about Republican corruption that is a laundry list of left wing blogosphere retreads (click through for links):

Well, it looks like Bush might need a brain transplant soon. So who in the Republican mafia leadership is not under corruption watch? Well let's see. The puppet master: Rove? Check. All those good friends of Jack Abramoff: Tom DeLay? Check. Ralph Reed? Check. Grover Norquist? Check. To top off the list, we can add CoinGate, sweetheart deals brought by "Duke" Cunningham for the defense industry to feed at the trough, and the missing billions in Iraq. And there are more scandals where those come from.

Update: Mister Opus1 has another excellent example of (Kentucky) corruption writ large in the Republican party.

Among other comments, obelus links to Salon's New Years list of Thirty Four Bush scandals. (watch 30 second ad or click through to The Left Coaster comment by obelus)

How much longer does the list have to get to stir up the Democratic party? The blogosphere cannot carry all of the Democratic party's water for them. They have to find their own voice and their own spine.

Will it take a criminal conviction before a single Democrat in either the House or the Senate files an ethics complaint? Credit where credit is due to John Conyers, Louise Slaughter and a very few house Democrats.

On top of the long list of blatant, in your face corruption, there is the extensive list of Bush/Republican policy failures. I honestly cannot name a single Bush policy that has been a success. Can somebody help me out?

Iraq war, failure. Afghanistan, failure. GWOT, failure. Overall foreign policy, failure. Tax cuts, failure. Employment, failure. Overall economic policy, failure. Stock market still at about 10,500, failure.

The list could go on and on. Where are the Democratic critics? Is Hillary's comparison of Bush to Alfred E. Neuman the best that Senate Democrats have to offer? That's it?

With one or two notable exceptions, there has been little or no criticism from House Democrats. Speeches on the Senate or House floor do not count. Whatever it takes, Democrats have to force the message of corruption and failure out into the public square.

There is no reason to wait until the election. The time to speak truth to the American people is now. Say it loud and say it proud.

Bush is a failure. The Republican party is a failure. The Bush administration is corrupt. The Republican party is corrupt. The President of the United states is weak. The President of the United States has dishonored his office. The President of the United States is a liar. The President of the United States has no honor.

Failure and corruption. Corruption and failure. Over and over and over ad nauseum and ad infinitum. You can say it a thousand different ways. Corruption and failure. Failure and corruption.

They fail (none / 0)

because they favor connections over talent, and in my opinion such a weltanshauung is by definition corrupt. Incompetents such as Bush are always at the mercy of advisors and their cabals for things like basic geography, history, sociology, biology and so on. That level of dependence is great for the Shadow Government and their anti-middle class agenda, but bad for America.

BUT... as long as the average American indulges his anti-intellectualism in the ballot box we will get clowns such as Bush in offices of great import.

Re: They fail (none / 0)

Are you talking about Democrats or Republicans? I can't tell the difference anymore.
